Abstract (EN)

Organized Industrial Zones appeared when industrial facilities in some settlements of Europe started to increase in high numbers due to industrialization movement, originating in the beginning of 1800s, and industrial revolution. These large and small facilities that clustered in a disorganized manner laid the ground for Industrial Zones. Following the first OIZ application in England in 1896, OIZ applications began to spread across the U.S. and Europe. Having been applied in Turkey since the onset of the 1960s, OIZs have played a crucial role in reduction of unemployment, acceleration of industrial investments, increase in quality and productivity in production, prevention of regional inequalities, more planned and environment-friendly city establishments and regional development in our country since the first years of their application. This study examines the contribution of Bartın Central 1st Organized Industrial Zone that was commissioned in 1999 to the development, industrialization, job opportunities and regional development in Bartın city. Source revive and face-to-face interview techniques have been preferred as study method. As a result of study, it was seen that Bartın Central 1st Organized Industrial Zone contributed considerably to economic development of Bartın Province especially in terms of employment.
