Abstract (EN)

One of the prerequisites for economic growth in a country is the existence of a strong and healthy banking sector. For this reason, the efficiency of banks gains importance. This efficiency is followed by investors, politicians and the Bank's top management, and is taken into consideration in the decision-making process. In addition, the banking sector is competing in itself. Competition conditions of the sector includes service quality provided, resource needs and increase in profit expectation. In recent years, in the Turkish banking sector; progress has been made especially in the number of banks, number of personnel, technological investment, number of services and profitability. The main reason for this progress is that the crises experienced by the sector in the past years have made the sector experienced. The working principle based on the efficiency criteria of the banks also played an important role in this development. Effective functioning of the banks, which occupy an important place in the economic system, is of great importance. In this study, activity analysis with DEA was performed on twelve private banks in Turkey (domestic and foreign,). As a result of the analysis, effective banks were identified and activation suggestions were made for inefficient banks to become effective.
