Examination of the relationship of mental thougness levels of football players struggling in Turkish professional football leagues with negative metacognition

Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to examine the relationship of mental endurance levels of football players struggling in Turkish professional football leagues with negative upper cognition. Data obtained in this context, Süper Lig, TFF 1. League, TFF 2. League and TFF 3 League. It was collected by scales applied to 334 players from 40 teams randomly selected from among the teams in the league. The application form consists of three scales: the 15-item sociodemographic Form, the 14-item inventory of mental thougness in sports, and the 30-item upper cognition scale. Data from participants was analyzed with SPSS. The data analyses were based on the total score and lower dimensions obtained both for the mental thougness inventory in sports and for the upper cognition scale. Parametric tests were used because of the normal distribution of this study using the relational scanning method. In this direction, the t-test was used to compare quantitative continuous data between the averages of two independent groups, and the ANOVA test was used to compare quantitative continuous data between the averages of more than two independent groups. After the ANOVA test, Tukey and Tamhane's test were used as complementary post hoc analysis to determine the differences. Pearson correlation analysis was also applied among the continuous variables of the study. Negative cognition and general cognitive level of mental toughness of players with top negative directional at the low level there was a significant relationship between the level of trust, the level of overall mental toughness of the players with positive beliefs, cognitive self-consciousness positive directional control at the low level of danger and edilemezlik there was a significant relationship between the levels of however, it is understood that this is not a significant relationship between need to control thoughts. The mental thougness levels of football players vary according to their age, Professional Football time, daily sleep time, and the presence of other professional athletes in their families. The negative upper cognition levels of football players differ according to their age, previously penalized State, Professional Football time, daily sleep time, and the presence of other professional athletes in their families.
