Abstract (EN)
Energy cooperation between Turkey and Russia plays a crucial role in ensuring regional stability and maintaining global energy security. While Russia, possessing the world's largest natural gas and oil reserves, serves as a strategic energy supplier, Turkey stands out not only as a major energy consumer but also as a key transit hub for the transportation of energy resources to Europe. This study provides a detailed analysis of the major projects shaping Turkey-Russia energy cooperation. It examines the Blue Stream and TurkStream natural gas pipelines, as well as Turkey's first nuclear power plant, Akkuyu NPP, assessing their impact on the energy policies and economic interests of both countries. Additionally, the study evaluates how global energy trends, including sanctions, diversification of supply sources, and the transition to renewable energy, affect Turkey-Russia relations. By analyzing the economic and political aspects of energy cooperation, as well as the mutual dependence and strategic priorities of both countries, this study explores the challenges and future opportunities for sustaining this partnership. In the context of global energy market transformations, potential threats and opportunities regarding Turkey-Russia energy cooperation are examined, with recommendations focusing on infrastructure investments, risk mitigation strategies, and the enhancement of contractual mechanisms. Keywords: Energy cooperation, Turkey, Russia, Akkuyu NPP, Energy security.
