The perception of the right-wing movements in Turkey as to the 27 May Coup: 1960-1980

The subject of this study is the position of Turkish right-wing against the 27 May coup and its several effects between 1960 and 1980. In this study which consists of three parts, it is also aimed to measure the consistency of the Turkish right against 27 May. Accordingly, one of the aims of the study verifies following basic hypothesis: After 27 May, the position of Turkish right-wing in the face of the military interventions are inconsistent to some extent. To evaluate that, firstly it is required to reveal the unjust treatments experienced by the right-wing after 27 May, in other words, to include the traumatic effects of the political, legal, economical, etc. practices on Turkish right-wing, especially on the supporters of the Democratic Party. The second subject examined is whether or to what extent those unjust treatments were used by the elements of Turkish right-wing like the parties, political elites, intellectuals, etc. for pragmatic purposes. On the other hand, in this study, the effect of the 27 May coup on the right-wing is reviewed with the descriptive analysis method. During the data-gathering stage, firsthand resources such as newspapers, magazines, political party brochures are used usually in the extend of the basic political parties of Turkish right-wing, their social extents and intellect circles. Besides, it is not neglected to use the other resources. In the context of their consistencies, some question can also be presented about the radicalism and over radicalism of the elements of the Turkish right-wing like the Islamists and nationalists. Accordingly, between 1960 and 1980, the opinions of the radical right-wing is converged on 27 May or any coup examples. Although there are exceptions, the opinions of the moderate right-wing remained within the liberal-democratic patterns as distinct from the radical right-wing. Therefore, if we think of the Turkish right on a political line, as it approached the Democratic Party and the Justice Party lines, the anti-coup increased and as it moved away from the Democratic Party and the Justice Party lines -as the radicalization increased-, the anti-coup decreased.
