Investigation of satisfaction with health services in Turkey: Application of a qualitative choice model

Many countries have recently introduced reforms in delivery of health services and the individuals' satisfaction from these services. Evaluation of health services by patients, and effectiveness and quality of these services are important for the development of countries. It is inevitable that problems in a health system have a negative effect on community's health care level and happiness. In this sense, today, works on improvements in health services having increasing importance, building the foundation of healthcare systems and, satisfaction of individuals with health services have an important place in health policies. The aim of this study is to investigate individuals' satisfaction level with the health services delivered by Public Hospitals, Private Health Institutions, Community Health Centers and Centers of MCHFP (Mother and Child Health and Family Planning), Family Doctors and Practitioners, Specialists and Dentists give them, by ordered logit model using the data of 2008-2012 Turkey Health Research's survey conducted by Turkish Statistical Institue (TURKSAT). Results of the analyses reveal that that there has been a significant increase in the individuals' satisfaction level with the health services between 2008 and 2012. In addition, as the age of individuals increases the possibility of satisfaction with health services increases while this possibility is reduced with an increase in the level of income and education level. Moreover, individuals' improved health status and positive mood increases the possibility of satisfaction with health services.
