Economic contribution of the table olive production in Turkey: The case of Manisa-Akhisar

ABSTRACT Akhisar, takes an important place in table olive production even though it is one of Turkey's non-effective in production. Although the region is effective in the production of table olives, it does not have sufficient share in the foreign market. Tableware production is not carried out as requested and quality standardization is not achieved. The topic of this study, in the world, the analysis of Turkey and Akhisar sub province in olive production is made. Sub province of olive producers of olive production in the agricultural economy holds an important place in Akhisar. Akhisar are summarized in improving methods to explain their methods to increase the contribution to Turkey's economy. It is aimed to increase the sales of table olives produced in Akhisar district in foreign and domestic markets and to find methods to maximize the profit margin. It is aimed to specify the image of the state of the olive plant, maximizing its production, price stability, increasing the safety of the product and the factors that ensure the continuity of its production. The research consists of three main sections. There is also an introduction and contents section. In the first part, the explanation and analysis of the olive production amount in the world is made. In the second part, the manufacturer identified problems and objectives of table olive sector in Turkey and has been approached in terms of the consumer. In the third chapter, the problems of the olive sector in Akhisar are examined in terms of production and consumption and what needs to be done are presented. The purpose of this study is to limit the place of table olive production in Akhisar and to explain the competitive environment. However, it is to show the change in agricultural production in Akhisar. In Akhisar, in the 1990s, the agricultural sector switched from tobacco production to olive production. Town, with this change in Turkey's agricultural production has become an important area that olive production. There are approximately 12 million olive trees in the district. The main purpose of this study is to state methods to increase exports in parallel with its success in table olive production in the district. As a result, Akhisar is an important producer region in table olive production. However, Akhisar is a region with important problems in the production of table olives. Especially the lack of table olive knowledge in Akhisar negatively affects the economy of Akhisar.
