Abstract (EN)
The years between 1960 and 1971 represents a period in which socialism has not only boosted politically, but also begun to become evident in the intellectual / ideational arena. During this period, the public view of socialism will be increasing and the theorization activity will be carried out with numerous periodical journals. However, it could be argued that many of the intellectuals advocating for socialism in Turkey have not carried out this debate on universal standards; and are in search of an alternative development strategy with the influence of the Third World / Disconnectivity movement which has risen in the 60s. A nationalist rhetoric was adopted and Turkish socialism was tried to be established. Kemalism, on the other hand, is being rebuilt by the intellectuals in the context of their own intellectual dynamics and turned into the fundamental basis of Turkish socialism. National Campaign is named as the First Independence War and it is argued that the Turkish Socialism has carried out the second liberation war because of the distancing from the Atatürk revolutions in the 60s and their nickname of "revolutionist"is being linked to the revolutions of the early Republican period. Another distinctive attribute of Turkish socialism is anti-imperialism, defined by USA foreign policy practices and opposition against the USA. This study examines these ideological engagements of the socialist left in Turkey with respect to nationalism. The study was limited to between 27 May 1960 and 12 March 1971.
