Abstract (EN)

Recently, there has been an imbalance between women and men in various areas within the context of social gender inequality in Turkey. Due to the biological differences they have, women and men are split into different gender. There are many reasons of social gender inequality. Political, ideological, economic and cultural structures take part in the basis of this inequality. When we look into the areas where gender discrimination arise, it can be said that discrimination takes place almost each area of society from education to politics, from politics to economy, from economy to social life. Gender inequality arises in many areas of society such as political, economic, health and educational aspects, and causes inequality of rights and opportunities at these areas. Although this inequality problem is known as women related problem because of effecting the women most, it is a problem that concerns the whole society. In the first chapter of this study, variously defined gender and social gender terms in the literature are explored, then in the context of these terms gender roles from patriarchy and feminism perspective, also social politics topics were mentioned. In the second chapter, the concepts of the areas where gender inequality occurs, reasons and results of gender inequality and data of gender inequality in Turkey and the World were examined. Legal, social and political arrangements, and social policies due to prevent gender inequality were included in the third chapter as the last part.
