Comparison of idioms related to human organ names in Turkishand georgian languages

Turkey and Georgia, have been in the same geography for centuries and have constant interaction due to their close neighborly relations. The relation between these two countries is seen in language as well as in many other fields. It is of great importance to make comparative studies in Turkish and Georgian languages, which are neighbors to each other, even though they belong to different language families, in terms of determining language relations. There are many common words in Turkish and Georgian, which are close to each other in terms of geography. At the same time, there are also idioms that are fully or partially equivalent in meaning or form in both languages. The goal of the research is to learn and comparatively analyze the idioms formed with human organ names in Turkish and Georgian in order find the similarities and differences of the idioms related to organ names in both languages. This thesis consists of two parts. The concept of "idiom" and its features and studies on idioms in Turkey and Georgia are discussed in Chapter 1. The idioms formed with organ names in Turkish and Georgian are comparatively analyzed in Chapter II. In the review section the idioms are presented in alphabetical order. In the tables, the form of the idioms in Turkish is given in the first column, the Georgian equivalent of the idiom (original form, transcription and Turkish translation) in the second column and the meanings of the idioms in the third column. The study is limited to idioms formed with human organ names in Turkish and Georgian literary languages. Beside the idioms formed with the eyes, ears, nose, head, hand, heart, etc. Also, idioms formed with internal and external organ names, idioms formed with abstract words such as mind, heart and soul are discussed. The data that emerged during the study were obtained by using the qualitative research method and by techniques such as scanning, compilation and comparison. In order to determine common idioms related to human organ names in both languages, scanning and filing method was used from idiom dictionaries. As a result of the research, it is seen that most of the common idioms (58.39%) formed with human organ names in Turkish and Georgian are exactly similar. The nations living in the nearby geography affect each other in terms of language and culture, although they belong to different language families, it has been determined that many idioms established with organ names in Turkish and Georgian are common.
