According to scientific studies in Turkey; culture, law and institution of slavery in Hittites

In this study which has been done in order to identify the jurisprudence and treatment for the slaves during the Hittite period, it is aimed to reveal the place of the slaves in the society. The study consists of an introduction and three other parts. In the introduction part; the historic geography of the Hittite, their ethnic identity and political history have been mentioned. In the first part, the slavery concepts in various religions and societies have been dealt. At the same time the reasons why slavery emerged has been broadly explained in this part. In the second part; slavery culture has been depicted. In the third part; by evolving out of Hittite laws, the place of the slaves in the social life has been discussed. In the conclusion part; the rights of the slaves given by law and the punishments given them based on the laws have been mentioned. The main points mentioned in the first and second part are the properties of Hittite culture, the social structure in the Hittite, the slavery as an institution, and Hittite laws. The conclusion which has been drawn grounded on the mentioned laws and cultural components have been assessed in the conclusion part.
