Abstract (EN)

The low participation of women in politics compared to men in Turkey and in the world is one of the current debate issues. Underrepresentation of women in politics is the main reason for this situation. The aim of this study is to investigate women's participation in politics in local governments in Turkey in the context of gender equality. In the study, interviews were made with the female mayor in an online environment and the interview method was used. According to the results, the patriarchal social structure and the perspective that sees women limited to certain roles in society are obstacles to women's participation in politics in local governments. Although compared to previous periods, there is a big difference with men in terms of participation in politics in Turkey, which is a shortcoming. The curriculum of the verb discipline for women will come together and contribute to politics by contributing to politics. The female mayors participating in the research are in their applications to claim their rights.
