Abstract (EN)

The concept of poverty, which dates back to very old times and one of the most important problems of societies today, is generally defined as the inability of people to meet their basic needs. The world's most affected by poverty is children and women. In this regard, the studies revealed by women in combating poverty are important. We have prepared our study with the title of "Role of Women's NGOs in fighting against poverty in Turkey: Examples of Turkey Humanitarians Association (TYSD) and Women and Democracy Association (KADEM)." In this study, the concept of poverty, the concept of NGO and the importance and impact of women's studies against poverty is tried to reveal. Turkey Humanitarians Association (TYSD) which is the first NGO founded by women in Turkey, and Women and Democracy Association (KADEM) that stands out with works it has put forward nowadays. Both are examined in terms of general operations and these NGOs' studies against poverty is presented in our study. Our study shows that not only men but also women do very important work both during formation stage of NGO and during activities. In this context, the success of women who are active in the fight against poverty emerges with this study.
