Abstract (EN)

Economic growth is one of the main macroeconomics targets of every country. GDP, which is a sign of economic growth and contributions of its elements to growth has been the focus of researchers in every turn. In this research, the contribution of international trade to economic growth has been investigated. İn the first two parts of this study, international trade and economics growth teories have been researched. Subsequently the international trade structure of Turkey between 1998-2015 has been put forward. In the last section, empirical analysis is located. The aim of this study is to detect if there is a causality relation between international trade and economic growth, and if there is a relation, to explain the direction of the relationship. The methof of the ampirical alaysis is Granger Causility Test and the tool is E-views programme. The datas of the study have been obtained from the Central Bank of Turkey. The period which was researched consists the years between 1998-2015. In the model, GDP has been used as dependent variable and both export and import have been used as independent variables. According the test result the existence two way causality between GDP and import has been observed.
