Change in Turkey's internal security governance, new regulations, structures, and practises in the process of combating seperatist terrorism

Terrorism is a phenomenon as old as world history. Terrorism, which can be encountered anywhere in the world, is a problem that Turkey has been struggling with for many years. Especially since the 1970s, the terrorism problem we have faced is not limited to a single terrorist organization. In addition to far-left terrorist organizations such as the DHKP-C and MLKP, radical terrorism that exploits religion such as DAESH, new generation hybrid terrorism such as FETO, and PKK separatist terrorism, which is the theme of this study, are the terrorist organizations that Turkey has been fighting against. In the first part of this study, the conceptual background of internal security management and some of its practices in the world and in Turkey are explained. In the second part of the study, information on terrorism, terrorism and terrorist organizations was given, and the history, structure and action style of the PKK terrorist organization was tried to be explained. In the third and final part, a connection was established between the July 15 Coup Attempt and the Trench/Barricade Incidents and the impact of the 9/11 Events in the USA on internal security management systems, and Turkey's legal, administrative and practical changes in internal security management after the aforementioned events were tried to be expressed. As a result of the study, it was concluded that since Turkey is a country that has been fighting against terrorism for many years and is likely to be exposed to many attacks due to its geographical location, an independent Ministry of Internal Security should be established and should be the sole responsible institution for internal security management in the country and should work in cooperation with other stakeholders in the fight against terrorism across borders.
