Abstract (EN)

Tuvan shamanism is less researched in Turkey. The study titled `Tuva Kam Alkışları? aims to be a modest contribution in addressing this gap.My thesis `Tuva Kamlarının Alkışları? aims to provide detailed information about the shamans (kams) who have held a special status in Tuvan society since time immemorial. The research section of the thesis seeks answers to questions such as `Who is the shaman (kam)??, `How does one become a kam??, `What are the activities of the kam?? through a synthesis of the data collected by Russian, Turkish and other researchers. The therapies, divinatory techniques, and the cultic rituals administered by the kams are described in detail in this section. Information is provided about the guardian spirits, the items (tambourine, costume, staff), the death and the funerals of the shamans.The kams? alkış-prayers uttered in the shamanistic séance are translated from Tuvan Turkic into Turkish (Türkiye) and presented in the section `Texts?. The alkış-prayer, a produce of folklore, reflects various aspects of folk knowledge of the people who maintain their faith of Shamanism, such as mythology, daily life, therapeutic techniques, the relationship between nature and humanity, the sky, the earth, the ancestor cult.Keywords:1.Tuvan shamanism2.shamanistic séance (kamlama)3.guardian spirit4.therapy5.tambourine
