Effects of proline applications on pepper plants under salt stress conditions

Abstract (EN)

It will be filled laterIn this study, the damage to leaf tissues of Capsicum annuum L. plants exposed to salt stress and the effect of exogenous proline (Pro) application on physiological functions under salt stress conditions were investigated. At the end of the experiment, the analysis of cell membrane damage rate, leaf relative water content (RWC), turgor loss (LT), Pro amount, total soluble protein (TSP) amount, catalase (CAT) and ascorbate peroxidase (APX) activity, and SDS-PAGE were performed in pepper leaf samples. As a result of this research, it was found that the rate of cell membrane damage, which increases with salinity stress, decreased with the application of proline. It was determined that salinity stress led to decreased leaf RWC in plants and increased LT and It was determined that salinity stress led to decreased leaf RWC in plants and increased LT and externally applied proline led to an increase in YOSK and a decrease in TK. Salinity led to higher endogenous proline content and exogenous proline application had a positive effect on it. Regarding enzyme activities, CAT activity increased at 50 mM and decreased at 100 mM NaCl application, while exogenous proline application decreased the activity at 50 mM NaCl application and increased it at 100 mM NaCl application. Ascorbate peroxidase activity increased under salt stress and exogenous proline application ameliorated this increase. While the amount of TSP decreased with salt stress, exogenous proline application increased the TSP at 50 mM NaCl application and decreased it at 100 Mm NaCl application. Protein bands between 24,6 kDa and 256,9 kDa were determined in SDS PAGE analyses which varied with the treatments.
