Abstract (EN)

Technological innovations that come with digitalization facilitate the production of three-dimensional films and cause the basic details of the production process to be ignored. Unlike traditional shooting methods, the design process in the virtual environment is based on the correct application of certain parameters. Virtual cameras and lenses used in 3D softwares are analogues of real-life shooting equipment in virtual space. Cameras in virtual space have an undirected structure with the movement and angle parameters included in the softwares. Three-dimensional softwares knowledge and operatorship are not enough to convey the meaning in visual language. From this point of view, it is necessary to apply the rules of cinematography, which has a certain general validity, created by directors, cinematographers and camera operators over the years, in three-dimensional animation productions. The main purpose of this study is to reveal the diversity and methods in arranging virtual cameras following cinematography rules and transforming them into a narrative element with technical details. For this purpose, within the scope of the research, the production stages of three-dimensional animation productions, the cinematographic use of the camera and virtual cameras have been clarified with definitions and examples, and an eight-minute three-dimensional animation short film has been prepared. The research shows the effect of camera usage following cinematography rules on expression possibilities in three-dimensional animations. The three-dimensional animation film prepared within the scope of the study will be accessible in an open-source format for years. With this feature, the "In Three-Dimensional Animation Movies Cinematographic Use Of the Virtual Camera" project serves as a guide for those who will prepare a similar study.
