Investigation of the effect of burnout syndrome in aircraft maintenance technicians on flight safety

In this thesis, it is aimed to measure the job satisfaction and burnout syndrome levels of aircraft maintenance technicians (UBT), one of the most important parts of the aviation industry, and to examine their effects on flight safety according to demographic factors. This syndrome, generally defined as psychological and physical energy depletion, has started to attract more attention in recent years and many studies have been included. Flight safety is very important to the aviation industry. The most important part of the system that ensures flight safety is undoubtedly the aircraft maintenance technicians. Aircraft maintenance technicians are psychologically and physically tired due to many adverse working conditions such as heavy working conditions and irregular working hours. Faced with these difficulties brought about by their work lives, it is possible for aircraft maintenance technicians to experience burnout syndrome. Maslach Burnout Inventory and Minnesota job Satisfaction Scale were used as data collection tools in the research, and our survey was applied to aircraft maintenance technicians working in airline organizations in our country. As a result of the evaluations made for the employee and the institution, the employee should not take work home, acquire hobbies, spend time with his family, be careful about alcohol and tobacco use, follow the institutional staff regularly, and increase the employees communication with employees. Ensures that the physical conditions in the environment where maintenance operations will be carried out at the bases are sufficient and uses technological tools. It is recommended to provide training on its use. This study, which was carried out to measure the burnout levels of aircraft maintenance technicians, with a proactive approach and to take preventive activities, provides very critical and important information in terms of contributing to the aviation industry, managers, aircraft maintenance technicians and academic literature.
