Investigation of the usability of fly ash, bayburt stone and marble powder industrial wastes in soil stabilization

Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to improve the natural soil, low plasticity clay according to Unified Soil Classification System, by using fly ash, Bayburt stone wastes and marble dust. Within the scope of the study, Class C fly ash was evaluated as the primary binder. The samples were prepared by adding 25% fly ash and 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% marble powder and Bayburt stone wastes to the low plasticity clayey soil. The curing durations for the unconfined compressive strength test were 7, 28 and 84 days and a freezing-thawing cycle test was also performed in this context. In the prepared mixtures index, strength and durability tests were performed. In the light of the data obtained from the study, it was determined that Bayburt stone wastes and marble powder can be used as pozzolanic additives with fly ash in soil stabilization. It was concluded that the use of marble powder with fly ash is more appropriate than the use of Bayburt stone with fly ash in terms of unconfired compressive strength and Bayburt stone wastes are more effective in terms of durability.
