Abstract (EN)
Ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) has emerged as a revolutionary material in the field of civil engineering, offering unparalleled strength, durability, and versatility. This study explores the latest advancements, challenges, and future directions in the utilization of UHPC for infrastructure development and building construction and aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of UHPC, its properties, applications, and implications for sustainable construction. The fundamental properties of UHPC, including its compressive strength, flexural strength, shrinkage behavior, and resistance to chemical and environmental degradation and performance of UHPC and other innovative/nonconventional concrete varieties are addressed in the study. Important points are underlined such as the composition and properties of UHPC, highlighting its unique characteristics such as high compressive strength, low permeability, and enhanced durability. Study also explores the diverse applications of UHPC in construction, evaluates its sustainability aspects, and discusses future research directions and potential advancements in the field of UHPC. Case studies from around the world demonstrate the successful application of UHPC in bridges, buildings, and various structural elements. Challenges associated with UHPC production, including high material costs, limited workability, and environmental concerns, are indicated. Strategies for overcoming these challenges, such as the use of alternative cementitious materials and advancements in mixture design, are explored to enhance the sustainability and cost-effectiveness of UHPC. Future research directions and opportunities for UHPC are discussed, including the integration of nanotechnology, development of optimal performance- based design methods, and establishment of international standards and guidelines. Collaboration among researchers, industry stakeholders, and policymakers is emphasized to drive innovation and facilitate the widespread adoption of UHPC in construction projects. Overall, this study provides a comprehensive overview of UHPC, highlighting its potential to revolutionize the construction industry and create sustainable, resilient infrastructure for future generations.
