Abstract (EN)
The rapid changes with globalization in the last century affect the whole world in terms ofsocial, economical, political and cultural concepts. While globalization brings wealth, advanced technology, better living standarts andimprovement of human rights with democracy, it also has some negative influences whichlead us to multi-dimensional arguments. As opposed to the proposed ideas of global powers that they share wealth and democracy,it is argued that their real intention is exploiting these countries by making them openmarkets of international capitalism. To reach their target these contries use the media andcommunication systems and try to reform these countries cultures by using an old strategycalled ?divide and manage? which also provacates ethnic diversion. Global powers try tooppose the arguments against them by weakening nations sovereignty. It is natural that globalization which is a live economical and idealogical process, affects astate nation like the Repuplic of Turkey. Turkey is based on a modern and powerfulstructure. Therefore, it would be a proper policy to benefit from globalization whilekeeping Turkish identity in tact. At this very point, we should carefully analyze thepositive and negative effects of globalization, how it tries to integrate world societieswithin the new economic order and its effects in terms of national interests. In this essay we have tried to investigate the effects of globalization on nation states andwith special reference to Turkey. We have made use of different sources such as books, related articles, internet and newspapers.Key Words: Nation State, Turkish State Structure, Atatürk Nationalism, Globalization,Multinational Companies.
