Formation and problems of the nation state in some European countries and Turkey: Extending the nation or excepting the nation?

In the study it is aimed to give information about interaction of globalization and the nation state as well as the nation-state and nationalism; to reveal the formation and problems of nation state in selected European countries (Britain, France and Germany); and it is also aimed to reveal shortcomings, mistakes and experiences of Turkey that has painful and troubled process about nation building. In this study information is given about historical development process of nation state since today, basic qualifications, nationalism, globalization and interaction of nation state and the past and present and the problems of the nation-state in Turkey and in selected European countries have been discussed. It is thought to be important as its width in terms of scope, as adressing nation-state and nation-building trends of Turkey and selected European countries, adressing the problems and solutions of nation- state and as it approaches nation- state at `economic front?. Information about the nation-state and globalization is primarily given in this study in which historical and descriptive research methods are used. In this context, information is given about the historical development of the nation-state and nationalism, the basic characteristics of the nation-state, types of nationalism, and about the globalization and interaction of nation- state. Then, formation and the problems of nation- state in selected European countries and in Turkey are discussed. In this context, the nation-state profile, historical development of the nation-state and its problems in Germany, France, Britain and Turkey are discussed. After processing the formation and the problems of nation-state in selected European countries and in Turkey, nation-state adventure of the mentioned countries are compared. In the last part of the study conclusion of the study is given and the study was brought to an end.
