The effect of national culture on entrepreneurial tendency: A Research on the Students of Afyon Kocatepe University feas

Entrepreneurship increases the social and individual welfare and increases the standard of living. In this context, entrepreneurship has become an important factor that plays an active role in the economic development of countries with the rapid progress of technology and the access to information. All these developments together with the increase in their relations in the international cultural dimension, therefore, have also revealed cultural differences. Culture is a system that can directly affect the behavior and personalities of individuals. In this context, in order to adapt to the developing world, researches which examine the cultural values and entrepreneurship tendency are of great importance. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of national culture on entrepreneurship tendency. In this context, a research has been conducted on students who have taken entrepreneurship courses at Afyon Kocatepe University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. The research was based on the national culture model of Hofstede. The questionnaire was applied to 204 students and the data were analyzed with SPSS statistical package program. The findings revealed that power distance from national cultural dimensions, uncertainty avoidance, individuality-socialism and long-term orientation dimensions had a significant effect on entrepreneurship tendency, and masculinity-femininity did not have a significant effect on entrepreneurship trend.
