Abstract (EN)

Aim: To test the applicability of the ?OP ICF core set life quality questionnairre?, which is developped in Munich University, Germany, on the Turkish patients with osteoporosis and to determine the ratio of ICF core set codes in our patients.Material-method: A hundred patients with osteoporosis who applied to Afyon Kocatepe University (AKÜ) were asked to fill in a questionnairre consisting of four parts and the form of SF-36 life quality assessment form. The statistical analysis of data collected by questionnairre about which frequency the patients have ICF code sets is done using Windows 98 compatible statistics program SPSS 12.0.Results: In our study our patients with osteoporosis have relatively low SF-36 values compared with normal Turkish society standards. When osteoporosis ? ICF core set questionnairre was applied, in the first part in which our patients' body functions are evaluated we detected maximum impairment (over 50%) in muscle endurance functions, sleep functions, gait patern functions and emotional functions, respectively. In the part in which body structures are assessed, we detected maximum impairments in structure of trunk. In other parts in which activity limitations and participation restrictions are evaluated, we detected over 50% difficulty in moving around, lifting and carrying objects, doing housework, using transportation, acquisition of goods and services, maintaining a body position, recreation and leisure and community life.In the last part in which which environmental factors are facilitating or barrier is analyzed, first climate and second design-construction of buildings for private use barrier is determined. Facilitating conditions, which are detected to be more than 50% facilitating are health services, systems and policies, societal attitudes, light, transportation services, individual attitudes of health professionals, communication services, individual attitudes of immediate family members and friends, friends and acquaintances, peers, collegues, neighbours and community members, respectively. Conclusion: Using ICF core set questionnairre, we saw that osteoporosis have big effect in daily lifes of our Turkish patients with osteoporosis. So, this gives us the opportunity to claim that ICF core set osteoporosis not only causes increase in risk of fracture in bones and fracture with drop in bone mineral density but also causes impairments in patients social lifes and is a clinical antite that causes changes interaction with environmental factors. The results may be used in future research as a questionnairre and parameter in determining life qualities of OP ICF core set Turkish patients with osteoporosis.
