Piracy in International Law and Somali̇a example

Because sea piracy has become a threat to sea security after a long time, interests of governments, academicians and the practitioners for this subject has increased. Attacks are more often in Aden Bay and near Somalia's coastline. As a failed state, When Somalia's unsuccesfull and insufficient conditions are taken into considideration, international society in this area has started a fight against piracy. Because the attacks near Somalin coastline are extraordinary, international alliances and international law faced various problems about catching the pirates and judging them. After United Nations Security Counsel's intervention and the specific precautions they took, this situation has been solved to a degree. In this study, while the concept of sea piracy and its place in the international alliances is being examined at the same time sea piracy in Somalia region will be further analyzed.
