Security and image perception in international relations: Example of Turkey and Turkish Airlines (2015-2018)

Based on the concepts of security image and perception in international relations, Turkey's security image and perception on terrorist incidents between 2015-2018 years in Turkey and the destruction caused by the and the damage to Turkish Airlines in this process constitutes the core of this thesis. In this context, the concepts of image and perception in international security are discussed in detail and the significance and effects of these concepts on the international reputation of a country are examined. The foundations of the dangerous relationship between terrorism and tourism and the travel sector were tried to be understood, and where the media was located. A causal relationship between Turkey's loss of security image and perception due to experienced terrorist attacks and Turkish Airlines' problems faced in achieving short- medium and long term objectives has tried to set. Between the years 2015-2017 Turkish Airlines, though not taken directly to the target itself, has suffered both in terms of image and perception in the eyes of the international community and huge losses in the economic indicators on a sectoral basis due to the experienced terrorist attacks in Turkey. Even though the recovery of Turkey's tourism and travel industry and Turkish Airlines became possible in the 2018 first quarter numerically, it would not meet the reach of a point if it can be continued by accelerationowned in 2015 and could be met only to be gained by the opening of the Istanbul Airport in 2019 will be provided with new momentum.
