Abstract (EN)
Postmodernism is an intellectual movement that emerged at the beginning of the 20th century and aims to liberate people despite the modernism's perception of rule and order. The inadequacy of the ideologies and concepts of modernism in understanding the society paved the way for postmodern thought to present a new world view beyond all the exhausted concepts. This multidimensional phenomenon is reflected in literary narratives as the way of perceiving the world of the post-individual, who questions all the mechanisms and notions of society with a transcendent attitude. In postmodern narratives, a new understanding of form, fiction and style, and the creation of its own reality by the postmodern subject are discussed. In postmodern literature, time, space, style, language, meaning, reality, character and author's position are reconstructed. Examining postmodern narratives is important in making sense of the era that has gained a new dimension. Postmodernism has also an important place in Turkish literature as in the literatures of the orher narions. In this study, the authors of two different nations, who used postmodern elements in their works; Italian writer Umberto Eco's novel The Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana (La Misteriosa Fiamma della Regina Loana) and from Turkish literature Oğuz Atay's novel The Dangerous Games have been compared in the postmodern context. how and why postmodern narrative techniques are used, and how the postmodern individual's perception of the world is processed through characters have been determined in the works of two authors who lived in different geographies. Because of the use of the same postmodern narrative techniques in both novels belonging to different geographies, and the fact that the characters' subconscious plays an active role in fiction, they are two appropriate works to compare in the postmodern context. These two novels were compared in terms of essence and form with the text-oriented analysis method, which is one of the methods of comparative literature, and the similar and different aspects of the works were revealed.
