Özet (EN)

Introduction and Aim: It was planned to investigate the antenatal evaluation of the umbilical cord coil index and its relationship with perinatal outcomes. Materials and Methods: This is a prospective study conducted with 117 singleton, second and third trimester, unselected pregnant women who applied to Aydın Adnan Menderes University Gynecology and Obstetrics service or outpatient clinic or were referred from different institutions. Demographic characteristics such as age, gravida, parity, gestational week and systemic diseases were questioned. Fetal biometric measurements and antenatal umbilical cord coil index (aUCI) measurements were performed with ultrasonography device. aUCI measurements were divided into 3 groups as hypocoil (<10p), normocoil (10-90p) and hypercoil (>90p). The relationship between aUCI and perinatal outcomes was investigated. Data were evaluated using the statistical program SPSS 21.0 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). A value of p<0.005 was considered statistically significant. Results: In our study, gestational week in pregnancies with hypercoil cord structure was found to be statistically significantly lower than the other groups. A statistically significant difference was found between the hypercoil cord structure and the low 1st and 5th minute APGAR scores, and this situation is similar to the literature. In our study, the fact that the gestational week of the normocoil case group was higher than the hypocoil and hypercoil spiral structures was found to be statistically significant. Conclusion: Antenatal umbilical cord coil index was associated with low APGAR scores. In the hypercoil structure, earlier delivery week was detected compared to the normocoil and hypocoil structure. We think that current aUCI measurement techniques should be developed, aUCI nomograms should be determined according to gestational week, and current aUCI measurements should not be a part of routine obstetric sonographic evaluation. Key words: Umbilical cord, Umbilical cord coil index, aUCI
