The effect of functional monomer and hema contents of universal adhesives on clinical performance of NON-carious cervical lesion restorations

Abstract (EN)

The objective of this double-blind randomized clinical trial was to evaluate and compare the clinical performance of four universal adhesives with different monomer contents in non-carious cervical lesions. Twenty-seven patients with four cervical lesions were included in the study. A total of 108 cervical lesions, G-Premio Bond (n = 27), Xeno Select (n = 27), Tetric-n-Bond (n = 27) and Clearfil Bond Quick (n = 27) universal adhesives were applied in self-etch mode. The nanofill composite resin, Clearfil Majesty ES-2, was placed incrementally by a single operator. The restorations were evaluated at baseline and at 6 and 12 months, using World Dental Federation (FDI) criteria. The data was statistically analyzed using Friedman's and Kruskal Wallis tests for significance in each pair (p <0.05). The 12 months recall rate was 96.3% and retention rates G-premio Clearfil Bond Quick, Xeno Select and Tetric-n-Bond were 96.2%, 100%, 100% and 96.2%, respectively. After the initial, 6 and 12 months of clinical use of the restorations, no statistically significant difference was found between the groups in terms of retention, marginal adaptation, marginal staining, surface gloss, color match and translucency, anatomic form, postoperative sensitivity, periodontal response and secondary caries parameters (p> 0.05). As a result of the 12-month evaluation, each material group showed high success rates, and it was determined that different monomer content among universal adhesives did not have a significant effect on clinical performance.
