Factors affecting work safety of university administrative personnel in terms of work environment risks (Gümüşhane province example)

The aim of this study is to determine the factors affecting occupational safety in terms of working environment risks of Gümüşhane University administrative personnel and to offer solutions. The population of the descriptive and cross-sectional study consisted of administrative staff (258 people) working at Gümüşhane University between September and November 2020. It is planned to reach all administrative personnel without choosing any sampling method. At the time of the research, 152 administrative personnel who were active except those on leave and those who refused were reached. The data of the survey, consisting of an informed consent form created by the researchers by analyzing the literature, socio-demographic characteristics, working environment factors, risks encountered in practices, occupational safety, occupational health, the questions of "Occupational Safety Scale" was applied under direct observation in approximately 20 minutes during the resting hours of the individuals. In the analysis of data, frequency, mean, standard deviation, T test, Mann Whitney U test, ANOVA, Kruskal Wallis and correlation tests was used. The mean score of Occupational Safety Scale was found as 107.97±11.39 in administrative staff included in the survey. The job security of the administrative staff who perceive their work efficiency level as sufficient, exercise regularly and have any mental illness was found to be high. In this study, it was found that the administrative personnel included in the research provided job security in the research institution. Motivation studies should be organized by the managers of the institution to increase the efficiency level of the administrative staff.
