Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to investigate the factors hindering the participation of administrative staff working at Batman University in the recreational activities with regard to various variables. The population of the study is composed of 270 adminstrative staff working in Autumn semi term of 2018-2019 academic year at Batman University. The sample group is composed of 143 administrative staff in total 104 of whom are male 39 of whom are female who voluntarily participated in the study and who are still working in 7 faculties, 4 Colleges, 5 Vocational Colleges, 3 institutes and 9 administrative staff. In the investigation, "Leisure Barriers Scale-18 (LBS)", adapted to Turkish by Gürbüz et al. and developed by Alexandris and Carroll (1997), was used as data collecting tool. 6 subscales such as individual pyschology, lack of information, lack of fascility, lack of friends, lack of time and interest, a scale composed of 18 items, were determined. The expressions taking place in the scale were degreed as quetarnary likret type; "Definitely Unimportant (1)", "Unimportant (2)", "Important (3)", "Very Important (4). In interpretation of the points obtained from scale items, results were evaluated as; between 1,00-1,75 definetly unimportant, between 1,76-2,50 unimportant, between 2,51-3,25 important and between 3,26-4,00 very important. In the study, Cronbach alpha internal consistency of the scale calculated was found between .69-.79 by subscales and .84 in total, so it is possible to state that the scale is reliable. As a result of the study, it was established that the administrative staff found leisure evaluation barriers important. The leisure barriers of adminstrative staff did not change significantly in terms of varibles whether they evaluate their leisure time or not in all subscales as gender, education, age, seniority, and jobs. According to marital status, however, leisure evaluation barriers of administrtaive staff did not significantly change in subscales such as individual pyschology, lack of facility/service, lack of friends, lack of interest and time, merely there was a significant difference in lack of information subscale.
