Study of American universities within the scope of university museums

University museums are the places where combines science, art and history traditions of university and museums. Being in the junction of these richness gives advantages to university museums while on the other hand, it also imposes responsibilities that other museums do not have. University museums, mostly located on campuses, have to serve students, researchers and the public and match the requirements of the changing time. In this thesis, the historical development of university museums was examined first. Then, historical developments and general conditions of university museums in the United States were investigated and museum formations belonging to some distinguished universities of the USA were examined. During the preparation of the thesis, primarily written sources were used. Internet resources and websites of related museums were also used.
