Employability skills in university students: A mixed methods research

In this study, university students current employment expected to have during the transition to business life to explore their employability skills. For this purpose The research was designed as a mixed method study. The quantitative part, low and high employability of career resources the role of hierarchical regression and binary logistic regression analysis. The qualitative part of the study is a case study designed and designed to explore current employability skills qualitative interviews were conducted with students, academics and employers in order to data were collected. The qualitative part of the study was conducted with students, academics and current employability skills as perceived by employers exploring the nature of the education system. For the quantitative part of the research, the 2023-2024 education 496 university students who continued their higher education in the academic year Quantitative data were collected through measurement tools. For the qualitative part of the research, 10 qualitative interviews with university students, 12 academics and 5 employers. data were collected. In the light of the findings for the quantitative part of the research predicting students with high and low employability skills The percentage of correct explanation of the model created for the model was determined as 81.3%. was used. Social career support in the career resources model is defined as the developmental power and meaningful contribution of networking and learning resources to the model and the variance explained by the model is equal to the Cox&Snell value. 48% according to the Negelkerke value and 58% according to the Negelkerke value. Research current employability skills according to the findings of the qualitative section interpersonal skills, cognitive skills, professional skills, personal characteristics and technology skills were identified as five different themes. Interpersonal skills include leadership, business unity, effective communication, problem solving, networking and adaptation skills is a skill set that includes cognitive skills. Cognitive skills creative thinking, analytical thinking, flexible thinking, goal orientation and problem solving skills. Vocational skills ability to follow the job, technical skills, professionalism and experience covers. Personal characteristics are assertiveness, flexibility, self-awareness, patience, building personal image, willingness and competitiveness. Finally, Technology skills in technological literacy, use of artificial intelligence and software knowledge skills. By combining quantitative and qualitative results discussed.
