An investigation of the relationships between fate perception, future anxiety and life satisfaction in university students

This study examines the relationships between fate perception, future anxiety, and life satisfaction among university students. Fate perception reflects an individual's attempt to make sense of their life and interactions with their environment. As a perspective shaping one's outlook on life, fate perception is addressed in this research through the dimensions of Cebriyye, Mutezile and Ehl-i Sünnet. It is assumed that young people's perceptions of fate influence their levels of future anxiety and life satisfaction. The findings indicate significant positive relationships between the sub-dimensions of future anxiety, namely fear of the future and hopelessness about the future. In contrast, a significant negative relationship was identified between future anxiety and life satisfaction. Furthermore, weak to moderate significant associations were observed between types of fate perception and life satisfaction, as well as between these variables. Overall, the results suggest that individuals' perceptions of fate and levels of life satisfaction may have an impact on their future-oriented anxiety and fear.
