Investigation of demographic, personal and environmental variables on the attitude of university students to receive psychological help

In this study, it is aimed that investigation of demographic, personal and environmental variables on university students' psychological help seeking attitudes. In this direction, demographic and personal information of university students, perceptions of social stigma and self-stigmatization, early maladaptive schemas and their attitudes towards psychological help were examined. IR relational model was used. In this regard, university students seeking psychological help attitudes, gender, marital status, before seeking psychological help situation, the idea of getting help if needed and previously traumatic one year of Asante ownership status variables independent groups in the analysis test and age group, grade level, school type , socioeconomic status, such help and assistance received specialized type of experience is in the analysis of variable one-way varya human analysis (Anova ) was used and the relationship between university students' psychological help seeking attitudes and social stigmatization, self-stigmatization and early maladaptive schemas was also analyzed using correlation analysis, and the effects of these variables on the attitude to seeking psychological help were analyzed using regression analysis. The population of the study is university students and the sample group consists of 525 students studying at RTEU . As data collection tools, the Short Form of Attitude Scale for Seeking Psychological Help, Social Stigma for Seeking Psychological Help Scale, Self Stigma in Seeking Psychological Help Scale, Young Schema Scale Short Form-3 and Personal Information Form are used. There was no significant difference between the psychological help attitudes and marital status and the type of expert who received help before; A significant difference was found between the variables of gender, age group, class levels, faculty type, previous experiences of getting psychological help, and the attitude of seeking psychological help when needed. It was concluded that there was a significant negative relationship between university students' attitude to seeking psychological help and social stigmatization, self-stigmatization perceptions and early maladaptive schemas due to receiving psychological help. It was determined that social stigma due to psychological help, self-stigmatization due to psychological help, and early maladaptive schemas predicted the attitude of university students to seek psychological help as a whole . It was found that failure and abandonment schemes positively affect university students' attitudes towards seeking psychological help; The negative effects of social stigma, self-stigmatization and punishment schemes on psychological help-seeking attitudes were determined.
