Lifelong learning trends of university students (The case of Kırsehir Ahi Evran University)

In this study, the lifelong learning tendencies of the students studying at Kırşehir Ahi Evran University were examined, and these tendencies were related to gender, faculty, academic average, age, grade level, education status of parents, place of residence, type of residence, desire to do postgraduate education, It was investigated whether it differs according to the desire to work in state institutions, the perception of university life quality, and the satisfaction of the department / faculty / university / city. The universe of the research is the senior students studying at Kırşehir Ahi Evran University; The sample consists of 400 students selected by random sampling method. During the data collection process, a 27-item 6-point Likert-type "University students' lifelong learning tendencies" scale, developed by Diker-Coşkun and Demirel (2012), consisting of four factors and having a reliability of .89, was used. In the analysis of the data, descriptive statistics (arithmetic mean, standard deviation), t-test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used according to the characteristics of the research problems. According to the results of the analysis, it was determined that the lifelong learning tendencies of the students were at a moderate level. Although it is seen that there is a differentiation in terms of various variables for the sub-dimensions of the scale, the lifelong learning tendencies of the students are related to gender, academic average, educational status of the parents, place of residence, type of residence, desire to do graduate education, and desire to work in government institutions. It was observed that the university did not differ according to the perception of quality of life, department/faculty/university/city satisfaction. On the other hand, it was determined that the lifelong learning tendencies of the students differed statistically according to age, faculty and grade level.
