Within the scope of university-industry cooperation Kastamonu Technocity inc. example

Abstract: In the 1960s, research and development (R&D) studies began to be focused on in many countries of the world, and rapid progress came along in the field of technology. In Turkey, these activities have become widespread since the 2000s. Universities are the leading institutions where R&D studies are carried out intensively. It is of great importance to adapt the R&D studies carried out within the university to the industry and to enable them to be transformed into products. Techno parks are the institutions that provide cooperation between the university and the industry. Techno parks are intermediary institutions that enable scientific knowledge to be commercialized and spread and move to the production stage. Keeping up with technological innovations of small and medium-sized companies, providing qualified personnel and employment, and establishing international cooperation through the transfer of technology are among the main objectives of techno parks. Based on this, the study aimed to determine the possible obstacles that could affect the expectations and success of the companies in Kastamonu province from Kastamonu Technopark Co. Inc., which was newly established within Kastamonu University. There has been no previous study on this subject in Kastamonu. This situation makes the study important and unique. In this study, 27 companies were interviewed in the form of face to face with previously prepared questions. During the meeting, a questionnaire consisting of 83 questions was filled out by the manufacturing companies in Kastamonu province. As a result of the study, it was found that some of the companies did not have information about Kastamonu Teknopark Co. Inc. but wanted to be in the technopark, and some companies' expectations from the technopark were to receive support while developing new products. In addition, among the expectations of the companies from the technopark are the establishing of new business areas, reducing the unemployment problem, ensuring regional economic development and contributing to the reduction of import rate.
