Anxieties caused by uncertainties after graduation (graduation anxiety) among university senior students: A case study of ALKU

The university period is one of the most critical stages in providing students with various achievements. However, nearing the end of this period may also bring about certain anxieties for students. This study is an analytical examination of graduation anxiety among final-year university students. A quantitative research method was employed, and the Graduation Anxiety Scale for Final-Year University Students was developed through the implementation of scale development steps. During the scale development process, a pool of items was initially created by reviewing the relevant literature, and this pool was examined by 17 experts in the field, one measurement and evaluation specialist, and one language specialist. The research was conducted with three distinct groups. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was performed with 330 voluntary final-year university students from across Turkey, and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was conducted with another 255 voluntary final-year university students. In the second phase of the study, the Graduation Anxiety Scale for Final-Year University Students was applied to a sample group of 355 students from various faculties of Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University. Based on the EFA, a four-factor structure consisting of 15 items was obtained. The study utilized a Personal Information Form and the Graduation Anxiety Scale for Final-Year University Students. Analyses such as Confirmatory Factor Analysis, internal consistency, split-half reliability, upper-lower group reliability, and item-total correlation analysis were conducted for the developed scale.The results of the analyses indicated that the developed scale is valid and reliable.
