Quality of collage life: The case of Yalova University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences

Quality of Life is one of the popular titles of today. For decades it has been studied by economists, doctors, nurses, sociologs and more, the concept is now in interest of social policy. The quality of life, used for analyzing society by both the resources and individuals perception on their lives, is becoming more and more countries' and international organizations' social policy target as the days gone by. Schools are where societies' futures written. Especially, universities are the institutions raising future's societies' leaders. It's not a surprise that a foundation so crucial for wellbeing of the society is being the topic for quality of life researches. The quality of tommorow can only be acheived by today's quality of college life. Besides this quality does not only consist the sole process of sharing knowledge but all experiences of a student about college. Raising quality of college life means happy, peaceful and hopeful youths. This context reveals the importance of quality of college life researches. Turkey has taken a great way in short time in maybe we can call universitization in recent years. Most of the youth between 18-25 are mostly college students. But this has resulted in a lot of new universities wrestling with problems comes with being "new". This study aims that in specific of the Yalova University, gathering information that can be used by other new colleges. Quality of College Life Scale is used for study and questions are aimed at students of School of Economic and Administrative Sciences at Yalova University as 5 point likert scale. Stratification is used on choosing the sample and had reached half of the current students. It has been tried to measure the effect of students demographics on quality of college life with data collected. But there has been found no correlation but sheltering between. It is also studied the effects of quality of college life on general quality of life, life satisfaction and identification and it has been found that it has positive effects on all three of them.
