Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to analyze how much attention is paid to the mission and vision of the institution while preparing the internal evaluation reports of the universities. Universities determine their mission and vision in their strategic plans. Mission is an umbrella concept that encompasses all activities performed and all services provided. On the other hand, the vision is a statement that reflects the place to be realized and reached in the long term. Universities are required to reflect their mission and vision statements in their internal evaluation reports. The sample of the study consists of state universities established before 1992, state universities established in 1992 and foundation universities established before 2002. In the study, the seven most frequently repeated words in the mission and vision statements determined in the current strategic plans of the universities were determined separately and how much these words reflected in the internal evaluation reports of the universities for 2021 was examined. In this review, the 2022 version of the MAXQDA Analytics Pro program was used. In addition, document analysis technique, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. As a result of the findings obtained by analyzing the documents, a comparison study was carried out in order to determine the similarities and differences between and within the groups. As a result of the study, it was determined that the universities did not reflect their mission and vision statements to the internal evaluation reports of the institutions sufficiently. However, when comparing the groups, it was seen that the most successful group in reflecting the mission and vision statement was the state universities established before 1992.
