Our field of study is Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, established in 1982. With the establishment of the university in the city of Van, the number of university members and students increased, thus the multi-faceted effect of the university on urban development became evident. After the establishment of Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, the development that began in the city was tried to be revealed, for this purpose, the spatial, demographic, economic and socio-cultural developments of the university and the city were analyzed. In order to reveal the developments experienced, four different questionnaire forms prepared in order to interview the public, tradesmen, academic-administrative staff and students were applied to the individuals in person and the results were evaluated. In addition, interviews were held with individuals and institutions, and the interviews were reflected in the comments. Face-to-face interviews with the people who have been residing in Van for many years, the fact that the effects of the university on the city were experienced by people personally, made a significant contribution to our study.
