Abstract (EN)

Sonochemical degradation of OH- sources urea and hexamethyl tetramine were employed to synthesize alpha-nickel hydroxide from different nickel salts. Utilization of ultrasound yielded products with properties significantly different than the products obtained by thermal degradation of OH- sources. The effect of intercalating chloride, nitrate, acetate, and sulfate anions on morphology and electrochemical performance was studied. For the urea decomposition; the sulfate-intercalated sample had the smallest interlayer spacing when obtained by the sonochemical method, contradicting all the previous thermal synthesis results. The specific capacitance trend also differed from the literature values, and the value for the sulfate-intercalated sample was larger than that of acetate, chloride and nitrate intercalated samples. Ultrasonic synthesis increased the specific capacitance of the sulfate-intercalated sample significantly. This sample was also the most reversible and had the highest charge efficiency. For the hexamethyl tetramine decomposition; electrochemical performance was increased with respect to urea decomposition since cyanate ion that is byproduct of the urea decomposition decrease the electrochemical performance. Specific capacitance of the nickel hydroxide was increased up to 50% for sulfate precursor. Alpha form of the nickel hydroxide was stable up to 300 cycle for each precursors. It was also examined that adding extra anion whether increase the electrochemical properties or not in this study. It was proved that adding extra anion increased the electrochemical performance 90% for sulfate precursor. It was also proved morphologically that adding extra anion made nickel hydroxide more crystalline.
