2THE RESEARCH OF STRUCTURE AND ETYMOLOGY OF THE NAMES OFSETTLEMENTS N U AKMEHMET YILDIRIMDepartment of Turkish language and literatureAfyon Kocatepe University institute of social sciencesSEPTEMBER,2006ADVISER :Assistant Professor Ahmet AKÇATAIn this research ,the names of settlements in U ak have been studied in terms oftheir etymology and stucture and several other similar studies have been mentioned.In the second part,the etymology of the names of villages taken from the citiesand villages department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs,together with the names ofDistricts,neighborhoods and streets of U ak have been identified and the data have beenclassified and have presented graphically .Furthermore ,the lexical roots of these settlement names-which language theyoriginated from-have been determined .In addition to the aforementioned research thestructural study of the names has been carried out and graphs have also been providedfort his particular study.In the conclusion part of the thesis ,the overall evaluation of the whole study havebeen itemized.
