An evaluation of class management competencies of primary school teachers at second phase in Uşak city

ABSTRACTAn Evaluation of Class Management Competencies of Primary School Teachers atSecond Phase in Uşak City.Mustafa ÖZERDepartman of Elemantary EducationSchool of Graduate Studies in Social SciencesAfyonkarahisar Kocatepe UniversitySeptember 2006Advisor Assistant Prof. Dr. Mehmet Akif HELVACIThe basic purpose of this research is to evaluate the classrom managementcapacities of the Turkish Teachers, who works at Uşak National EducationAdministory?s Primary Schools, according to the perceptions of students attending 8thclasses at primary schools and the Turkish teachers.To be able to evaluate the Classroom Management Capacities of the TurkishTeacher?s; firstly literature was searched, secondly sub-titles of Classroom Managementwere formed, then questions of these titles were prepared. These questions wereexamined by an expert. `A scale of Classrom Management Capacities?, which has sub-titles such as classroom interaction, discipline, motivation, classroom order, planningeducation, was prepared.The population of this study is composed of 85 Turkish teachers working atwhole primary schools and 4875 students attending the 8th classes at primary schools ofUşak in 2005-2006. Datas gathered from 74 Turkish teachers and 375 students wereanalysed by the help of SPSS 13 via using frequency, percentage, mean, t anad f testtechniques. ∂: 0.05 level was regarded in the meaningfulness tests. When the Turkishteachers was evaluated according to the Classroom Management Capacities; at the sub-titles of classroom commumication (interaction), discipline, motivation, classroomorder, planning education there was a meaningfull difference among the Turkishteachers working at primary schools and the students attending the 8th classes ofprimary schools.Key Words: Classroom Management, Classroom Order, Communication (Interaction)
