Abstract (EN)

In this study, the life of Üsküdarlı Fodlacızade Ahmet Rasim, who lived between 1766 ? 1853, and his poetry is discussed.Üsküdarlı Fodlacızade Ahmet Rasim was born in Üsküdar. He was a well-educated scholar and he hold important ranks in government levels. After his retirement, he devoted himself into students? education and knowledge. He turned his home into an education center. He became one of the respected ones of his time with his religious and Sufi qualities. The poems he has written were published just after his death, and they were widely approved. Besides his poems, a poetry book of advice was published and has been used at schools for a long period of time.The poems of Üsküdarlı Fodlacızade Ahmet Rasim are generally related with Sufism. The Love of God and the Prophet, good manners of religious order, mortality of this world and the eternal life are among the main issues he touched in his poems.This study is made up of four parts. In the first part, the life of Üsküdarlı Fodlacızade Ahmet Rasim, his works and his literary personality were discussed. In the second one, his poetry was analysed in terms of form and in the next part the content was analysed, added to this, the poet?s literary characteristics and Sufi way of understanding this world were argued. Lastly, the transcripts of his poems which were published in 1865 were given in the third part.Key Words: 19th century, Collected poems, Fodlacızade, Sufism.
