A study on Üstün İnanç's novels and his novel writing

In this study, the life, domains, art, and novels of contemporary Turkish writer Üstün İnanç have been chronologically examined according to a survey of his works, as well as according to his style of writing. Üstün İnanç, who was born in Istanbul in 1937, graduated from the School of Media and Journalism, and started is working life in 1956. This man of the arts—a journalist, playwright, novelist, theatrical director, and actor—is still with us today and continues to serve the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's Department of Culture. In the section of this paper dealing with an overview of İnanç's novels, the writer's works have been surveyed according elements such as events, characters, setting, and time, as well as chronologically ordered by publishing date. The themes of his novels "Yalnız Değilsiniz" (You Aren't Alone), "Ayıp Uşakları" (Rude Men), and Yazıklar Çıkmazı (The Predicament of Shame) deal with quest and generation, "Insanlar Böyledir" (That's How People Are) and "Bir Kimlik Lütfen" (An Identification Please) are about the working class, and his most recent two novels "Makedonya Gamzesi" (The Macedonia Dimple) and "Yağmur Kanla Başladı" (Rain Began With Blood) delve into the years of the 2nd Constitutionalist Period. The second section of this paper dealing with the writer's writing style tries to comprehend the writer's novels based on their content. Among these include the influence of writer Necip Fazıl Kısakürek, the features and themes of İnanç's characters, dreams, religion, Abdülhamit II, the writing and reading of books, the fine arts, family, morality, faithfulness, and righteousness, as well as social, political, economic, psychological, and populist elements.
