Abstract (EN)

Cardiovascular and respiratory diseases are common in societies. Field-specific preventive and therapeutic physiotherapy and rehabilitation approaches have a very important place in multidisciplinary treatment. Students studying in the field of physiotherapy should be have the basic knowledge and skills in the field of cardiopulmonary physiotherapy after undergraduate graduation. Our study was conducted to determine the effect of the distance learning model on the level of occupational self-efficacy in cardiopulmonary physiotherapy. Our study includes those who graduated from Dokuz Eylul University School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation with face-to-face education in the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 academic years (Group 1, n=54) and with face-to-face and distance education model in the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 academic years (Group 2, n=82). The Data Registration Form and the "Occupational Self-Efficacy Level Evaluation Questionnaire in Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy" were sent to the participants by e-mail in Google docs format. The questionnaire created by the researchers consists of two sub-headings, "Basic Measurement and Evaluation (BME)" and "Basic Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Approaches (BPRA)".It is totally includes 32 items. Items in the scale with Likert-type scoring were scored between 1 (I am very inadequate) and 5 (I am very competent). As a result, five different score types were calculated as BME-Theoretical and Practice, BPRA-Theoretical and Practice and total score. The response rate of the questionnaires which sent to 506 graduates in total was 27%. There was no significant difference between the groups in terms of five different score types(p>0.05). It was found that the mean score of Group 1 in the "exercise tests" parameter in the sub-title of BME-Practical was significantly higher than Group 2 (p<0.05). It was found that the undergraduate applied courses and the type of education model (face-to-face or distance) negatively affected group 2's career plans in cardiopulmonary physiotherapy significantly compared to group 1 (p<0.05). When we look at the effect of internships in the field on professional self-efficacy, in Group 2, there was found a weak positive (r=0.304, p=0.005) relationship between the internship period and Basic Assessment and Evaluation-Practice, a weak and positive relationship between Basic Physiotherapy Approaches-Practice (r=0.304, p=0.005)and a weak and positive relationship (r=0.255, p=0.021) between(r =0.220, p=0.047) total self-efficacy The hybrid application of face-to-face and distance education in physiotherapy produced similar results with face-to-face education on occupational self-efficacy in the field of cardiopulmonary physiotherapy rehabilitation, which is expected to be acquired during the undergraduate period. The use of supportive materials in order to increase the effectiveness of training in distance learning methodology will increase the efficiency in matters where the practical part of the exercise test is important.
