Wealth funds: Comparison of Türkiye and Azerbaijan wealth funds

Recently, countries set various economic goals in order to improve their economic situation and achieve stable and sustainable economic growth and development. The first examples of national wealth funds, which have existed for a long time in the financial system, appeared in the 1950s. Today, along with financial developments, it is possible to say that national wealth funds play an important role in achieving economic and social goals for various countries. Many developed and developing countries have started to create asset funds to use their resources more effectively. National wealth funds, which are so common throughout the world, were established in Turkey in 2016 and in Azerbaijan in 1999. The research undertaken encompassed a global analysis of national wealth funds, with a specific focus on Turkey and Azerbaijan Wealth Funds, where their financial performance was evaluated over several years. The research is structured into four main sections: The initial section presents comprehensive insights into the concept, historical development, objectives, and various categories of national asset funds. In the subsequent section, the research emphasizes examples from the global landscape that shed light on the historical origins of national wealth funds. The third part of the study provides information pertaining to the governance, transparency, and related transparency indices associated with these national asset funds. The concluding fourth chapter delivers a holistic overview of Turkey and Azerbaijan Wealth Funds, followed by a comparative analysis of their financial performance over specified periods.
