Data envelopment analysis and an application in banking sector

In this thesis, firstly, DEA is introduced; then, CCR and BCC Models that are widely used and application steps of these models are explained. DEA application is made by using datas of trade banks which has been active in between 1999-2005 in Turkey. In the soluation phase of the models, DEA Solver which is a special standart programme for DEA Method is used. As a result of the study, avarage efficiently percentage(1999-2005) of trade banks is found 43.3 percent in Turkey and it is determined foreign capital banks which is most efficient groups. In 2005, 9 of trade banks are found efficient for CCR Model, and 19 of trade banks are determined efficient for BCC Model. Key words: Data Envelopment Analysis, Efficiency, Banking Sector.
